An illustration (color) of two lions flanking a crown, with the letters A.and M, is on the verso of first page. Russian text around the illustration reads: "God save the King." Below the illustration and text is the Russian national pre-Revolution anthem. The manuscript includes a few additional illuminations in a folk art style All are in black and white with the exception of one in color, which was possibly colored in at a later date. The date 1902 is handwritten on the inside of the front cover.
